After the boycott of Indian Films, the Pakistani exhibitors are faced with a challenge. Their ability to keep the stream of movies flowing with regularity is in for a big test and their immediate worry is to prevent the local industry from collapsing
The most significant development is that Bol producer Shoaib Mansoorhas decided to return to the film making arena. His production Bol invaded the screens almost five years back and thereafter it was quiet. Now he is there again and already the excitement has begun to mount. Another stirring development is that pop sensation Ali Zafar is set to make his film debut in a Pakistani movie.
The well-known Video director Ahsan Rahim has lured Ali Zafar to join his efforts to produce a feature film and thereby make his debut as a film director. This film is expected to be an action comedy.
“I always wanted to make such a film because the genre excites me and I believe it is unexplored in the Pakistan market. We plan to take it on the floors next year and release it soon after,” Rahim said.
As for Ali Zafar, he is no longer associated with a Bollywood project. At the same time he has deffered his production Deosai and is expected to focus on Rahim’s film. The film-maker revealed that he and Zafar decided to team up for this film when they were at a dinner together. “Zafar and I first discussed the idea while having ‘hardcore’ desi food. As the conversation went ahead, it got him more and more excited. So much so, that he pulled out of a big Bollywood project and pushed his own film Deosai for later,” added Rahim.
“I am excited to be working with him as I find him to be an extremely versatile and talented actor and I feel he can play this role best.” Speaking about who will be playing the female lead in the film, Rahim said, “We are currently in the process of auditioning the right actor to star opposite him.”
In the recent past the video director Ahsan Rashid made a name for himself through popular music videos like Laga Reh, Sajania,Kismat Apne Hath Main, Preeto and Dosti. He has also won accolades for a few nationally liked TV ad films.
