Sajid Khan's most awaited movie 'Humshakals' failed miserably at the box office. Social media was flooded with jokes on Sajid Khan and his movies. Sajid's sister Farah came to his rescue on social media and slammed critics for not appreciating humour. But what came as a surprise was how the cast of 'Humshakals' chose to remain silent throughout. After facing the ire of audience for 'Humshakals' on social media, looks like this time Sajid Khan has been abandoned by the cast of his own film.
Jacqueline Fernandes who came into the limelight because of her alleged link up with director Sajid Khan was offered a role in Humshakals earlier. In an exclusive interview to Mumbai Mirror dated (July 14, 2014), Jacqueline spilled the beans on her link up with Sajid Khan and the Humshakals offer. The actress said that she had become more cautious of what to say in public about her personal life. Talking about Humshakals she said that she has not seen the movie in theatres yet. But further added, that she doesn't wouldn't go to the theatres to watch it. Instead she said she would catch it up on TV.
It came as a surprise to many when Saif came out in the open and spoke about Humshakals failure. In an exclusive interview to Mumbai Mirror dated (July 18, 2014) Saif expressed his displeasure over the kind of response his role received in Humshakals. The actor said, "The film didn't have a script as such, it was all there in Sajid's mind. I did whatever he asked me to." He further added, "I did the film thinking that it will help me expand my market, but obviously that wasn't a clever idea. I was trying to be someone I'm not. The humour was not the kind I enjoy. My upcoming film, Happy Endings, is closer to the comedy I believe in and am known for."
Esha Gupta who has managed to stay away from controversies, recently courted one when she spoke about the failure of Humshakals. In an exclusive interview to Mumbai Mirror, the actress came clean on how she felt about being a part of Humshakals. "My family, particularly my father, had been categorically told not to watch 'Humshakals' because I knew they wouldn't be able to bear the film," said Esha Gupta. But Esha also said that she did not regret being a part of the movie. She said, "Sajid told me upfront that I was an eye-candy and would have to ham my way through the film. I knew Humshakals wouldn't win me any best actress awards. Many have questioned my decision to take up this film, but I have no regrets."
Bipasha, who was going to appear on the big screen after a long time, also decided to stay out of Humshalas promotions. A series of theories started floating in the media about her alleged fall out with Sajid Khan over him giving prominence to Tammannah Bhatia. After this the actress took to twitter to clear the air. She posted, "This is to put an end to all the discussions around my absence from Humshakals promotions. I take full responsibility of getting into a film only on the basis of trust. But after dubbing for my character in the film, as I had professionally committed to do so I'm extremely disturbed by the end result of the same.In these circumstances I didn't know how to promote a film with all honesty and that's why I thought it was better to stay away. I am confident that the film will be true to it's genre and will be a full entertainer because of the people involved. I wish fox star studios who I have had my biggest hit with Raaz 3 and vashu ji who is a fantastic producer all the best. Wish all my co stars Saif, Riteish, Tamannah, Esha and the technicians best of luck. Sometimes, certain journeys cannot be completed and this is one of them - no one to be blamed, combination of things that made me disrupt my journey."
