New Delhi, Jan. 6 — Actor Purab Kohli decided to ditch his chocolate boy image to get the role in director Raja Krishna Menon’s upcoming film.
“Raja was initially very skeptical to cast Purab because of his cool urban image around him and the role of Ibrahim Durani needed someone more with a rugged look,” says a source.
Kohli, who’s acted in Shaadi Ke Side Effects (2014) and I AM (2011), kept meeting the director with a changed look to convince him that he was perfect for the role. Purab confirmed this, saying, “Yes, I actually had to go meet Raja, our director, looking all unkempt and scruffy. I even asked my stylist to give me a real uncool hair cut to get this part.”
“As an actor, we are accustomed to changing our look for every project. So I did not give it a second thought before doing away with my clean-shaven look,” adds the actor, who will be seen alongside Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur in the film.
