Jacqueline has taken the Indian film industry by storm with her style sense and her glam quotient. About to set the silver screen on fire with Salman Khan in Kick, Jacqueline is now making her presence felt among the ruling A-listers. Like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and many more, Jacqueline has taken the well defined route from winning a beauty pageant to walking the ramp and then acting in films. However, there is more to the most admired B-town fashionista than just movies. Check out five things you may not be knowing about the budding actress
After winning the Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, Jacqueline featured in her first commercial music video a year later. Jacqueline was seen in the ‘Oh Sathi’ music video by Sri Lankan duo Bathiya and Santhush which made her catch the attention of Indian filmmakers. The diva was seen in a figure-hugging red gown alongside the two singers in the music video. Two years later, Jacqueline made her Bollywood debut opposite Riteish Deshmukh in Aladin. The lucky girl also shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt in the movie.
Investing well in business ventures, Jacqueline has recently launched her restaurant in Colombo in Sri Lanka. The Kick actress took out some time from the promotions of the film to inaugurate her food joint Kaema Sutra. Similar in name to her glamourous presence, the restaurant is her collaboration with Japanese chef Dharshan. Highlighting the continental menu which also has a few items from her grandma’s recipe book, Jacqueline made it clear, ‘I'm half-Malaysian but we will be serving traditional Sri Lankan food.’
Jacqueline also had her share of controversies, hook-ups and break-ups in Bollywood. The diva was dating her Housefull 2 director Sajid Khan for quite some time. The two even went on a five-day holiday but called off the relationship in May 2013. It is alleged that Jacqueline lost several important roles in Jism 2 and Krrish 3 because of restrictions imposed by Sajid Khan whereas Jacqueline was called a nagging girlfriend by Sajid in an interview. While the two are no more together, both are happy to move on in their lives and careers.
Far from Bollywood, Jacqueline began her career in Journalism. She initially started hosting television shows in Bahrain at the age of fourteen. The diva graduated in Mass Communication from Australia and relocated to Sri Lanka where she actively took up serious journalism. She started as a TV reporter with specialization in politics. If the diva would not have won Miss Sri Lanka pageant and taken up modeling and then acting, she would herself been a part of the media. On the contrary, the actress is now followed by the paparazzi for being a celebrity.
Jacqueline is not just a glamour queen but also an ardent social activist. She is associated with the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia and is working on preventing cruelty to horses. Jacqueline came forward to ban the carriages pulled by horses in Mumbai highlighting their poor condition. She met the then Mayor of Mumbai, Sunil Prabhu, to look into the matter as horses are malnourished and forced to carry more passengers than the legal limit which leads to their permanent leg damage.
