Bosses behind One Direction's new concert movie have hailed it a global success after it stalled at the U.K. box office.
One Direction: Where We Are which was shot at the band's show in Milan Italy earlier this year hit cinemas across the world last weekend but in the group's native Britain it took just $1.6 million and barely scraped into the top five. However organizers of the movie link up event have branded the film a huge global success after it raked in an estimated $15 million across 80 countries around the world. Almost 1.2 million fans are believed to have seen the movie and officials at the U.K.'s Arts Alliance which organized the coordinated screenings predict it could smash previous Event Cinema attendance records. An Arts Alliance spokesman says, "We are proud of the support and enthusiasm of our cinema partners worldwide to deliver such a far reaching footprint across 78 countries to realize an incredible $15m Event Cinema global box office."
