Sajid says that Akshay is, perhaps, the best comedy actor we have in the current times.
“I am glad that I have worked with Akshay Kumar in three films now, and doing one more film with him now. He is the most gifted comic actor we have in this generation. Then there is Riteish (Deshmukh). The most beautiful thing is that they know my timing. Sometimes I don’t even have to tell them how I want to direct them. Just the eye coordination works for us. That makes life easier for me, otherwise that makes things very difficult,” says Sajid, who has directed both the actors earlier in Heyy Babyy (2007), Housefull (2000) and Housefull 2 (2012).
A lot of films are discarded by critics and some sections of the audience as brainless entertainers, but Sajid feels that films do not have the responsibility of giving a message every single time.
“I feel at the end of the day, cinema is not supposed to be some sort of a message giver. Cinema is for entertainment and if you can slide in a message that’s great and if you cannot then you better be sure that it entertains,” he says.
