Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan says Hollywood could, someday, take over Bollywood if the latter doesn't work on skills like screenplay, marketing and use of technology. "If we don't hone up a few areas, especially script writing, screenplay, marketing, professionalism and technology, we will be taken over by Hollywood," Shah Rukh said. Shah Rukh talked about the dynamics of Bollywood as compared to Hollywood during a session with American actor Brad Pitt, who made a surprise visit to India to promote his Netflix film War Machine - a satirical comedy wherein he plays Glen McMahon, a tough but overconfident US General seeking victory in Afghanistan.

The Indian actor, who has been in the industry for over 25 years, added, "Language is becoming less and less of a barrier. There are more digital platforms and easy accessibility to content from all around the world. Hollywood has done more and we need to learn from it and adapt." Shah Rukh, who has won epithets like King Khan, Badshah and King of Romance thanks to film like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Veer-Zara and Kabhi Khushi Kanhie Gham, also pointed out that success of international films in the domestic market indicates a shift in trend.

"There are films like spider Man and Fast and Furious which did as well as any other action Hindi Film. Language is no longer a barrier as Western films are getting dubbed too," he said. "The Indian industry has to change." Looking at Hollywood for cues for filmmaking, as the actor asserts, doesn't mean doing away with singing and dancing. "We have wonderful stories to tell but we aren't telling them. We need to understand the language that Hollywood or western cinema speaks, and not change what we are presenting. Singing and dancing has to stay.

" Brad added he has great respect for Indian films but would never be able to crack the code of Bollywood as he cannot sing or dance. "Indian cinema has its own film language, its own stars and a place of its own," he said. The fury star seemed curious about Bollywood as he had many queries about how it functions, how long the shoots are and other nitty gritties. Brad also admitted that he cemented his position in showbiz after surviving a number of mistakes. "Staying relevant needs a little bit of luck but we also try to re-invent. We are constantly trying to look for something new and different and fortunately we have survived our mistakes to stay relevant," he shared.
