The film, titled Jeewan Hathi, has been directed by Zinda Bhaag duo Meenu Gaur and Farjad Nabi and will be screened as part of Zee TV’s Zeal for Unity short film initiative.
According to the writer Faseeh Bari, “[Jeewan Hathi] is based on TV channels and [the phenomenon] on morning shows where celebrities are invited and disrespected for the sake of ratings. We have showed everything in the film.”
For a film that tackles the morning show rating game, who better to act out the animated antics of morning show hosts than TV’s funniest woman, Hina Dalpazeer.
“I’m playing a role of morning show host and my husband (Naseerudin Shah) owns the TV channel where I work,” she shares about the film.
Elaborating on the film’s plot, she says, “He changes my show timings to the late night slot and tries to give the morning show to his girlfriend. I do protests and many different things to increase the ratings of my late night show. It’s an amazing comedy and that’s why I signed the film.”
The film also stars Adnan Jaffer, Samia Naaz and Kiran Tabir and has a two-song soundtrack composed by Sahir Ali Bagga.
It is expected to travel the film festival circuit in India in March/April 2016.
