Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Sarbjit gears for Oscars
MUMBAI, INDIA: Makers of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer film Sarbjit are planning to send the film to the Oscars this year in the Best Foreign Film category.
They were of the view that whether officially or independently they will be definitely sending the critically acclaimed film.
Film’s producer Vashu Bhagnani said “We will send it as an entry, independently or in the race with other films. We will channelise our energy to make sure Sarbjit is in the race to become India’s entry to the Oscar this year.
Film Sarbjit – an Omung Kumar’s biopic – stunned film lovers with strong performances and incredibly solid content when it was released in May 2016.
Indian actor Randeep Hooda played Sarbjit’s lead character while gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachan played Sarbjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur’s role in the film.
The movie was based on the life of an Indian farmer, Sarbjit who was accused of terrorism and was later imprisoned in a Lahore jail.
Critics and fans loved and appreciated performances by leading characters and made it one of the best films of the year 2016.
After winning awards and hearts, film Sarbjit is seeking now to be in the race for winning an Oscar on an international platform.
The filmmakers were confident that Sarbjit would not fail to get huge applaud at the Oscars as well.
