Akshay Kumar was recently announced as one of the recipients of the prestigious National Film Awards for his performance in the film ‘Rustom’.
The actor, who has a film career spanning over two decades, won his first Best Actor National Award. After the announcement of the winners, Akshay drew the ire of many who thought that the actor received the award only because of his close friendship with filmmaker Priyadarshan, who was a part of the jury.
However, in a recent interview to Mumbai Mirror, the ‘Airlift’ actor broke his silence on the ongoing controversy. “I have completed 25 years in the film industry and I’ve never called in a favour to bag a movie or an award,” he addressed.
