41 years since music legend Khurshid Anwar passed away

Today marks the 41st death anniversary of the great music composer Khawaja Khurshid Anwar, being observed with love and respect.

He was one of the greatest musicians, directors, and philosophers of the subcontinent. Born on March 21, 1912, in Mianwali, he gave unforgettable classics to the film industry, including Koyal, Jhoomar, Sheerin Farhad, and Heer Ranjha.

Famous singers like Noor Jehan, Zubaida Khanum, and Mehdi Hassan lent their voices to his beautiful tunes. Khawaja Khurshid Anwar earned a master’s degree in philosophy from Punjab University. Even after passing the Indian Civil Service exam, he left the job because of his revolutionary ideas.

In 1955, he received the Presidential Award for Best Music Director and Producer for the film Intizar. He also won the Nigar Awards and the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

Khawaja Khurshid Anwar passed away on October 30, 1984, but his timeless music still lives in the hearts of his fans.
