Indian actress Mouni Roy has recently broken her silence on the unpleasant incident that took place during an event in Karnal, Haryana.
In a detailed post shared on her Instagram Stories, the actress claimed that the event, which was supposed to be a celebration, had become a source of mental anguish and embarrassment for her.
According to Mouni Roy, the situation became uncomfortable as soon as she walked onto the stage. She wrote that some elderly people and other men placed their hands on her waist while taking pictures, to which she immediately objected and asked them to remove their hands.
The actress said that despite this, the behavior did not improve and the situation worsened after reaching the stage.
According to her statement, two people stood right in front and kept saying obscene words, making inappropriate gestures with their hands and raising their voices. Mouni Roy said that initially she tried to gently stop them, but in response, roses started being thrown at her. At one point, she thought of leaving the performance unfinished, but returned and completed the program.
The actress expressed regret and said that during all this, neither any organizer nor the families present there tried to remove these people from the front. She also said that the stage was high and some people were making videos from below, while they were verbally abused when they stopped.
Mouni Roy wrote that she feels inferior, scared and mentally broken and wants the relevant authorities to take action against this behavior.
At the end of her message, she said that artists earn an honest living through their craft and raised the question of how such people would react if their daughters, sisters or women at home were treated in this way.
The actress also clarified that she usually does not bring negative experiences to the public, but this incident crossed a line. At the same time, she expressed her love for her country, people and traditions and called certain behaviors unacceptable.
