Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has approached the Mumbai High Court against the illegal use of his name, voice, and image.
According to Indian media, the case was filed because of the growing misuse of AI-generated deepfake content. This kind of material not only harms the actor’s reputation but can also have serious effects on the public.
Akshay’s lawyer, senior advocate Birendra Saraf, said that such content spreads so fast on social media that it becomes impossible to track it in time. He explained that by the time a clarification is made, the damage is already done, and it is dangerous because fake creators can make the actor appear to say or do anything.
The lawyer mentioned specific cases, including a fake movie trailer released in March 2025, which showed Akshay as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The trailer received over two million views before it was removed.
In another fake video, Akshay was shown making controversial comments about Maharishi Valmiki, which led to protests in several areas. AI platforms even have tools like AI Akshay Kumar V2 Voice that can generate speeches in his real voice using any text.
The lawsuit names social media platforms, websites, and unknown individuals to stop the misuse of Akshay Kumar’s name, picture, voice, and style.
It is worth noting that Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Asha Bhosle, Suniel Shetty, and others have already sought legal protection against deepfake content.
