Bollywood stars including Rajinikanth receive bomb threats

Famous Indian actors Rajinikanth and Dhanush received threatening emails claiming that bombs were planted in their houses. After this, Chennai police started an immediate investigation.

According to Tamil Nadu police, the Director General of Police received two emails saying that explosive material had been placed at the homes of Rajinikanth and Dhanush. Soon after, the Teynampet police and the bomb disposal squad reached Rajinikanth’s house for a security check.

Police said the first email arrived on Monday morning around 8:30 am. They acted quickly, but Rajinikanth’s security team said no suspicious activity was seen at the house. They believed the message was fake, so they refused help from the bomb squad.

Later that day, another email was received around 6:30 pm, but again Rajinikanth’s team did not allow a security check. Actor Dhanush also received a similar threat but declined police assistance.

Police officials said several celebrities have recently received fake bomb threat emails. The cybercrime wing has started tracing the source of the emails.

Sources said that earlier on October 2, similar threatening emails were sent to the DGP claiming bombs were placed in the homes and offices of different VIPs, including actress Trisha Krishnan’s house in Teynampet and actor Shekhar’s home in Mandaveli.

It is worth noting that on October 9, police arrested a 37-year-old man who sent a fake bomb threat to the house of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay. Police believe the same type of people may be behind the latest threats.
