Senior actress Bushra Ansari has requested that madrasas be registered and the teachers there be properly monitored.
In a recent video posted on Instagram, she spoke about the incident in Swat where a child died after being beaten by a teacher at a madrasa.
Actress Bushra Ansari said that the incident of a child dying due to a teacher’s beating in Swat is very sad. She added that everyone knows the child was not punished just for not studying or forgetting a lesson — the matter was something more serious.
She said that in the past, people talked about registering and monitoring madrasas, but till now, no proper registration or monitoring has been done.
While talking about the Swat incident, she also criticized the child’s family for being careless.
Bushra Ansari said that many teachers in madrasas do not have proper education. They often teach wrongly and do not even know the translation of Hadiths or Quranic verses.
She added that many of them become maulvis just by memorizing things without understanding. After that, they get jobs and places to stay in madrasas. They also receive free items on Eid and other occasions. Because of all this, they lack real love for Islam.
She questioned what kind of religious teaching involves such cruelty. She said that Islam does not allow any kind of force. She mentioned watching videos of children in madrasas who looked scared while studying. She said please do not make children fear Allah, teach them to love Him.
According to her, the religious scholars who appear on TV and YouTube should also help monitor madrasas and keep an eye on the teachers there.
She shared that her father used to say he wouldn’t send his children to madrasas because the maulvis beat children. They used to hit children even back then, and this tradition still continues. So, her father taught them the Quran in English at home.
Bushra Ansari appealed to parents to show kindness to their children. She said don’t risk their lives just because a maulvi or teacher says something. Listen to your children and understand their fears.
It should be noted that a few days ago, in Swat (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), a 12-year-old boy died after allegedly being beaten by a madrasa teacher.
