Actor Zahid Ahmed’s strong comments about social media and content creators have started a new controversy, as many famous TikTokers and influencers reacted sharply to his remarks.
Recently, Zahid Ahmed appeared on a podcast where he strongly criticized social media and content creators. He said that he views social media with hatred and disgust.
According to him, it is the most dangerous and evil invention of humans, and those who created it will be punished in the hereafter. He added that social media goes against human nature and especially against the lifestyle taught in Islam.
His statements about social media and content creators quickly went viral and angered many influencers online.
TikToker Alishbah Anjum reacted by sharing some pictures of Zahid Ahmed with actresses and wrote that it is strange to talk about religion while putting your hand on another man’s wife’s shoulder or dancing on stage.
She said that those who call content creators sinners are the same people who hug actresses, dance on stage, and proudly talk about their nose surgeries.
Social media influencer Adnan Zafar, also known as Ken Doll, also reacted to Zahid Ahmed’s statement. He said that when actors get hair transplants to hide their baldness, it is called improvement, but when influencers do the same, they are called fake. When actors get nose surgeries, it is seen as enhancement, but when influencers do it, it is called plastic. If actors dance on stage, it is called performance and art, but if content creators do the same, they are insulted and labeled negatively.
He said that when actors perform with women who are not related to them, play different roles, or even dress up as women, it is called art. But when content creators do something similar, they are called sinners.
Ken Doll questioned whether a new religion has been discovered inside the entertainment industry or if some new rule has been made.
Content creator Zarnab Fatima also reacted to the statement on her Instagram story. She said that she usually does not comment on someone’s personal opinion, but asked whether the actions of actors truly follow Islamic values and whether they are teaching the correct message of religion to people.
She said that thinking of yourself as better than others is an illness, and this attitude is what they are showing. A person should have enough self-control to understand what they are saying about others.
TikToker Kanwal Aftab also shared a clip of Zahid Ahmed’s podcast on her Instagram story, criticizing people who do not reflect on their own actions but keep judging others.
Actor and content creator Khakan Shah Nawaz also reacted to Zahid Ahmed’s statement by sharing a video on Instagram. He said that Zahid Ahmed is somewhat correct in saying that God does not like those who show off too much, meaning people who excessively display themselves.
However, he said that it is not right to decide who will go to hell and who will go to heaven without God’s judgment, because only God can make that decision.
He added that it would have been better if Zahid Ahmed had fully explained his point, by clarifying why God does not like show-off behavior and what its harms are, instead of making a general claim that all content creators are destined for hell.
