Indian actress and former Member of Parliament Divya Spandana, also known as Ramya, has received murder and rape threats on social media. Police have arrested two people for these threats.
According to Indian media, Ramya filed a complaint with the Bengaluru police saying she had received serious threats from 43 different social media accounts.
Police took action and started an investigation through the cybercrime wing. They tracked several suspicious accounts, and two people were arrested. During questioning, both of them admitted to their crime.
Police also said that they have identified 11 more accounts involved, bringing the total number of threatening accounts to over 48.
Reports say that the threats began after Ramya made a comment about a murder case involving famous actor Darshan. After her statement, Darshan’s supporters started criticizing her on social media.
Ramya is a popular actress in the Kannada film industry. She returned to films in 2023 and is also a former Lok Sabha member.
