Actress Genelia D’Souza said that when she returned with Taare Zameen Par, she was very surprised because she thought people had forgotten her.
Genelia’s film not only did well at the box office, but its story also touched people’s hearts.
The special thing about this film is that after 13 years, Genelia played a lead role in a full Hindi theatrical film. Before this, her last film was Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya in 2012. After that, she only did a few OTT movies like It’s My Life and Mister Mummy.
Genelia said that she had not worked much in the last 10 years. Sometimes she appeared in songs or worked for a friend. She felt people might forget her and think she is no longer important. But now when people say they want to see her again, it makes her very happy.
She said that since it is an Aamir Khan film, of course more people would watch it. But even then, she was surprised that people noticed her role. The biggest compliment for her was that people wanted to see more of her.
Genelia shared that as an artist and a person, it is very special when people want to watch you again. Not everyone gets that chance.
She said that Aamir Khan once met her husband Riteish and asked if Genelia was working these days. Riteish said yes. Then Aamir told her to meet director R.S. Prasanna. She gave an audition and got the role.
She said many actors might ask why they should audition after 20 years, but for her, it was the best way to get the role, and she was happy to do it.
The film Taare Zameen Par is about special children who are trained by a proud coach (played by Aamir Khan) for a basketball tournament. Genelia plays the role of his strong and supportive wife.
Talking about the film’s success, Genelia said the rise in box office collections from Friday to Sunday was due to positive word-of-mouth.
She believes that if you make a good film, it always reaches the audience. She is happy that the film was successful.
