Hania Aamir is known for her great acting but now she has been given a chance to play an important role for women in Pakistan. The United Nations has appointed her as the Goodwill Ambassador for Women in Pakistan.
On Instagram, UN Women Pakistan announced that they are happy to welcome Hania Aamir as their Goodwill Ambassador.
They said that Hania will use her platform to support women and girls in Pakistan. She will raise awareness and encourage them to be strong and confident.
Together they will work for a future where every woman and girl can live free from violence discrimination and inequality and show her full potential.
Hania Aamir is the second Pakistani to receive this honour. Before her, Muniba Mazari was appointed as the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2015. Hania is also the third woman in South Asia and the fourth person overall on this list, which includes Muniba Mazari, former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, and Bollywood actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar.
At the global level, famous Hollywood actresses Emma Watson, Nicole Kidman, and Anne Hathaway have also been given the same honour as Goodwill Ambassadors for women.
Many other Pakistani celebrities have also served as UN Goodwill Ambassadors. Actor Fawad Khan was appointed by the UN Development Programme, and singer Shehzad Roy was chosen by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.
Pakistani actresses Mahira Khan and Saba Qamar are also part of this group. Mahira represented the UN Refugee Agency, while Saba Qamar served as an ambassador for UNICEF.
