Humaira Arshad was allowed to sing after assuring she would not do anything wrong

Former popular playback singer Humaira Arshad revealed that her parents allowed her to sing only after she promised not to do anything wrong. She also shared that her father was so upset with her singing that he left the house.

In a recent podcast, Humaira talked openly about her life and experiences.

She said that she had a passion for singing from a very young age and considered herself lucky to have learned from legends like Noor Jehan and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

She met Noor Jehan at Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s house. Humaira shared that she wanted to become a student of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, but Noor Jehan offered to teach her instead. When she refused, Noor Jehan got upset and scolded her, even warning that if she didn’t become her student, she should never sing songs prepared by her.

When asked about acting, Humaira said she was offered many roles in films and dramas, but she had no interest in acting. Her only passion was singing, and she sang for many films but never wanted to be an actress.

She also shared that she is someone who likes to stay alone and watches crime investigation programs to learn.

Talking about how she was allowed to sing, Humaira said her father left the house when she started singing, and even relatives cut off ties with the family.

She described her father as a strict man who became angry over her singing. Even close family members boycotted them.

Humaira said she requested her father’s spiritual guide to help convince him. After she promised through the guide that she would not do anything wrong and would only focus on singing, her father finally gave permission.

She told her parents that she would never do anything that would bring shame to them or damage their name. She would only sing, and on that promise, they agreed.
