Famous actor Shamoon Abbasi strongly reacted to the recent statements made by late actress Humaira Asghar Ali’s mother, where she blamed the people of Karachi for not taking care of her daughter.
Recently, Humaira’s parents gave their first interview to a local TV channel. In that interview, they talked about many things including her death, her distance from the family, and her personal life.
During the interview, Humaira’s mother said some harsh things about the people of Karachi. She said that no one in Karachi cared for Humaira, no one checked on her, no one knocked on her door or tried to see if she was okay.
A short video clip of her statement went viral on social media, and many people criticized her views.
Humaira’s mother also said that the people of Karachi are heartless and dishonest. She even said that she curses the people of Karachi.
She claimed that people used to hear screams from Humaira’s flat, but even then, the neighbors didn’t check on her. No one knocked on her door to see if she was okay. Instead, she said the neighbors went away on a four-month vacation and ignored everything.
After this statement went viral, many social media users started criticizing Humaira’s mother. People said that if her own parents were not in contact with her and didn’t try to find her, and even refused to take her body after her death, then how can they blame the people of another city.
Actor Shamoon Abbasi also shared his feelings in a video message. He said that no one can understand the pain of losing a child, but the way Humaira’s mother blamed the people of Karachi was very upsetting. Shamoon said that she called the people of Karachi heartless and blamed the city for what happened to Humaira, which is unfair.
The actor said that his question to Humaira’s mother is — where were you for nine months? This is the same daughter who asked for your help, and you clearly refused. Her father also refused to receive her body. When people on social media raised their voices, only then her brother came to take the body, and you also changed your statement.
Shamoon Abbasi continued and said that if they couldn’t afford a plane ticket, they could have at least sent a cousin or a trusted family friend from Lahore to Karachi by bus or train. It would only cost around ten to fifteen thousand rupees. That person could have stayed in Karachi for two or three days to check on Humaira and, if needed, asked the police for help.
He said that instead of taking responsibility, her parents blamed an entire city and called Karachi heartless.
Talking directly to Humaira’s parents, Shamoon said that she was your daughter, she was close to you. It was your responsibility and your family’s responsibility to look after her. Blaming others is easy, but you ignored your own duties.
He added that while we may not fully understand your pain, we also feel hurt. On behalf of the entire showbiz industry, I want to say that many people were ready to help. When they heard that Humaira’s father refused to take her body, several individuals, including me, other actors, women, and NGOs, came forward. They were ready to take responsibility for her funeral. And this was not just talk — people were seriously coordinating to make arrangements.
