Famous Pakistani actor Humayun Saeed said that the most difficult scene for him while shooting the Netflix series The Crown was the kissing scene.
Humayun played the role of Dr. Hasnat Khan in Season 5 of The Crown, a web series based on the British royal family. Dr. Hasnat was a real-life character who was said to have had a romantic relationship with Princess Diana. In the series, Humayun Saeed also had to perform a kissing scene with actress Elizabeth Debicki, who played Princess Diana.
It is said that Princess Diana used to call Dr. Hasnat Khan her Mr. Wonderful. In May 1996, she even visited his family in Lahore.
Many of Diana’s close friends believed Dr. Hasnat was the love of her life. He also attended her funeral.
Recently, Humayun Saeed appeared on Geo Podcast where he talked openly about how he got the role in The Crown and shared his experience working in the series.
Actor Humayun Saeed shared that he was contacted for The Crown during the COVID-19 lockdown, and at that time, he himself was suffering from COVID.
He said that due to the virus, he had a 102-degree fever, but still managed to record and send his audition.
According to Humayun, an agent offered him the role in the series, but before final selection, he had to give online auditions. With the help of his director friend Nadir, he recorded the audition video and sent it to The Crown team. After about 20 days, he received a call congratulating him for being selected.
He praised the entire team of The Crown, saying that everyone was very professional. He mentioned that even though he tried to reach the set before anyone else, he would always find that the rest of the team had already arrived.
When asked about challenges during filming, Humayun said the kissing scene was the most difficult for him. He had already informed the team that such scenes are not common in Pakistan and would be uncomfortable for him.
He explained that even in Pakistani dramas, married actors don’t perform such scenes, and even real-life couples keep a respectful distance in public. For him, shooting a kissing scene could cause problems.
After he expressed his concerns, the team was worried, but the actress playing Princess Diana, Elizabeth Debicki, encouraged and supported him. She praised him and helped him feel comfortable before filming the scene.
Humayun said that even during rehearsals, he told everyone that he had never done such a scene before and found it difficult. The team understood him, respected his feelings, and made efforts to make him feel at ease. Only after he was fully comfortable was the scene finally shot.
