Shabbir Jan recently appeared on Tabish Hashmi’s show Hansna Mana Hai where he spoke openly on different topics. He said that in the 80s there were not many TV channels, only PTV. That is why even a small role actor was recognized by the audience. But today, despite actors working day and night, people do not recognize them the same way because there are too many channels.
He compared old actors to test match players who used to rehearse properly before acting, while today’s actors are like T20 players who work quickly. Especially the newcomers do not rehearse at all, they just perform, and because of this they do not deliver dialogues properly. Sadly, dramas are aired with these mistakes.
Shabbir Jan also said that today’s actors look more like models than actors. For them, good hairstyles, body building, and looking attractive seem more important than the role they are playing.
Talking about Humayun Saeed, he said that Humayun is a good actor and works very hard, but he is not the best actor in Pakistan. He added that nowadays there are very few truly great actors, though he did not mention any names.
