Renowned TV anchor and crime reporter Iqrar-ul-Hassan has officially entered politics, but his political entry has become a subject of ridicule and humor on social media instead of news.
Iqrar-ul-Hassan, who gained fame from popular programs like Sir-e-Aam and Ramadan transmission Shan-e-Ramazan, unveiled the name and flag of his new political party at the Lahore Press Club. The party has been named “Awam Raj Party”, while the party flag features a yellow moon and star on a red background.
As soon as the pictures of the party’s name and flag were revealed, social media users were full of interesting comments and sarcastic sentences. Many users described the design of the flag as a combination of flags of different countries and political parties, while some also criticized the name of the party.
One user sarcastically wrote, “Iqrar-ul-Hassan himself has proven that he is a red flag.” Another user said, “It looks like the flag of the Soviet Union.”
A fan wrote, “This all seems like a joke, who will be with him, except his three or four wives?”
Another comment said, “People’s rule will never come to this country.”
Some users described the party’s name as similar to an Indian political party, while someone described the flag as “a Turkish flag with a red design.”
While Iqrarul Hassan’s entry into politics came as a surprise to his fans, it has now become a topic of entertainment and memes on social media. It will be interesting to see in the coming days whether Iqrarul Hassan can make a place in politics as seriously as he did on the TV screen.
