The long-running legal dispute between singers Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi has once again entered a new phase, where Meesha Shafi has approached the Lahore High Court against the decision of the Sessions Court.
Advocate Saqib Jilani filed an appeal in the Lahore High Court on behalf of Meesha Shafi, challenging the decision of the Sessions Court, which ruled in favor of Ali Zafar and ordered Meesha Shafi to pay Rs 5 million in damages.
The appeal took the position that the trial court did not examine the facts properly. Meesha Shafi has said that if she cannot fully prove her allegations, then Ali Zafar cannot completely refute the allegations made against him.
According to the petitioner, she had also approached the provincial ombudsman regarding the allegations of sexual harassment, while legal action against this decision is still pending in the Supreme Court. The appeal has pleaded that the Sessions Court’s order cannot be enforced before the final decision of the Supreme Court.
Meesha Shafi has requested the court to set aside the Sessions Court’s decision of Rs 5 million in damages.
It should be noted that this case is one of the most talked about legal disputes in Pakistan’s showbiz industry, which has continuously attracted attention not only in entertainment circles but also on social media. Now, after a new appeal filed in the Lahore High Court, another important legal twist has come to light in this high-profile case.
