MQM and Musharraf’s era in Karachi was good, says Saraha Asghar

Leading actress of the showbiz industry, Saraha Asghar, while talking openly about the past and present conditions of Karachi, has said that in her opinion, the reign of Pervez Musharraf was relatively better for the city, while the MQM era was not completely bad either.

She said this while participating in a podcast of a private channel, where host Ayaz Samo asked her questions on various social and civic topics.

When asked about a better era for Karachi during the program, Saraha Asghar said that she feels that the Musharraf era was better. According to her, there was a certain discipline during the MQM era as well, however, a bitter reality of that era was that the entire city would shut down on a phone call.

She said that she grew up in the same environment and if we compare the conditions today, there has definitely been improvement in many aspects.

The actress further said that discipline was visible during the MQM era, but now that leadership and that system are no longer there. She said that the MQM Pakistan’s talk of defaming the country is not correct, because the situation is bad all over the world and it is not appropriate to target only Pakistan or Karachi. Giving an example, she said that today it is not safe to go to some areas even in cities like New York.

While talking about the poor condition of civic amenities in Karachi, Saraha Asghar referred to the incident of Ibrahim falling into a manhole near Nipa Chowrangi. She said that drug addicts often steal manhole covers, but the real question is who is going to stop them and who is responsible.

While discussing social issues, the actress also expressed her opinion on the age of marriage and motherhood of working women. She said that now she feels that the ideal age of marriage for working women should be around 25 years, because after thirty, if children are born, there is not enough energy left to raise children properly.

During the program, Saraha Asghar also shared a disturbing incident from her personal life. He said that once a man chased him and reached his house, at that time his son Rehan was very young. He said that when he started screaming, the entire neighborhood gathered, after which the man fled the scene.
