Pakistani films’ fourth major global success, Welcome to the Punjab, wins Best Audience Award at Baku Film Festival. According to details, Pakistan’s film industry crossed another important milestone globally and won its fourth major success this year.
Pakistan participated in the Baku Cinema Breeze Film Festival to be held in Azerbaijan from December 7 to 10, 2025/
Three Pakistani films were specially screened during the festival. The film Welcome to the Punjab, presented on the occasion of Pakistan Film Day during the festival, won the Best Audience Award.
The producer of this film is Safdar Malik while the director is Shahzad Rafique.
According to the Pakistani delegation, this award is proof of the growing influence of Pakistani cinema globally. Even before this, Pakistani films achieved significant successes on several global platforms in 2025.
Earlier, at the SCO Film Festival held in China, the film Nayab won the Best Jury Critic Award, while the film Demak won the Best Editing Award.
Similarly, at the Eurasia Film Festival held in Russia, renowned Pakistani actress Sonia Hussain was awarded the Best Performance Award.
According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Digital, Media and Film Policy Institute is playing a vital role in making Pakistan’s representation on global platforms effective, promoting cultural diplomacy and opening new doors for international production.
The ministry has termed the recent successes of Pakistani films as a sign of the growing standard of the creative sector and its reach across the world. The Pakistan Film Producers Association has appreciated the efforts of Executive DG DEMP Samina Farzeen, Director Film Section Syeda Saira Raza and Deputy Director Samia Chana and said that thanks to their hard work, Pakistan achieved its fourth consecutive success at the global level.
