The northern mountain areas of Pakistan were hit by deadly rains and destructive landslides this week. In just 48 hours more than 350 people lost their lives. Streams turned into raging rivers bridges and roads collapsed and villages were buried under mud and water.
The most affected regions include Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir where rescue teams are struggling to reach remote valleys because of broken roads. In Buner Swat and Mansehra people are still trapped under collapsed houses and valuable belongings are scattered on the roads showing the scale of destruction.
After the flood disaster many famous Pakistani showbiz personalities expressed grief and solidarity on social media and appealed for help.
Singer Asim Azhar said that the land is crying today as the flood has taken away dreams homes and lives. He added that the nation must come together and support each other.
Model and actress Nadia Hussain offered a heartfelt prayer asking God to protect the country from further disasters.
Singer Umair Jaswal requested tourists not to travel to northern areas so that rescue operations are not disturbed.
Writer Fatima Bhutto questioned the relief activities and asked why timely help is not reaching the victims.
