Pakistan Peoples Party activist Muhammad Aamir has filed a constitutional petition in a local court against the Indian film Dhurandhar.
According to Express News, a PPP activist has filed a constitutional petition in the court of District. And Sessions Judge South against the unauthorized use of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed’s pictures and PPP flag and scenes of rallies in the trailer of the Indian film and the portrayal of the party as supporting terrorists.
The petitioner has requested the registration of an FIR against the film’s director, producers, actors and related staff. The petition names the film’s director Aditya Dhar, producer Lokesh Dhar, Jyoti Kishore Deshpande, actors Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bani, cinematographer Vikash Navlakha, editor Shiv Kumar V. Panicker and other unknown staff as accused.
The petitioner has taken the stand that he saw the official trailer of the film Dhurandhar on social media. In which pictures of PPP Chairperson Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, party flag and scenes of rallies were included without permission.
The trailer portrays the PPP as a party supporting terrorists, which is propaganda based on lies, ill-intention and maliciousness.
In the film’s promotional campaign, Karachi, especially Lyari, has been described as a terrorist and war-torn area. Which is a highly provocative, baseless and harmful impression against the city. And its residents, which is likely to damage Pakistan’s reputation globally.
Also, the petitioner said that the trailer of the film is causing hatred. That contempt and incitement among the public against the PPP. Its leadership and workers, which falls under the category of police offences cognizable under sections 499, 500, 502, 504, 505, 153-A and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to the petitioner, he submitted a written complaint to the SHO of Police Station Darakhshan. But the police neither registered a case nor took any legal action, due to which he was forced to approach the court.
Furthermore, the petition has requested the court to order the police to immediately register an FIR. SSP South to supervise a transparent and impartial investigation. While all those responsible for the film should be named in the investigation.
