Actor Rajpal Yadav, who is in Tihar Jail in a cheque bounce case, has been praised by his Bollywood co-stars for their support during his difficult time.
According to Indian media reports, Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has surrendered before Delhi’s Tihar Jail authorities in a cheque bounce case. He could not repay the loan amount due to severe financial difficulties.
Speaking to the Indian news agency, the actor’s wife Radha said that everyone has supported him, the industry has cooperated fully, we thank everyone who has come forward to help.
The actor’s bail hearing will be held today and his family is hopeful that he will be released on bail today as many actors from the film industry are stepping forward in his support.
Sonu Sood, Mika Singh and Gurmeet Chaudhary are among those who have supported Rajpal Yadav, while Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Varun Dhawan have also expressed their support.
This development comes at a time when news of Yadav’s emotional statement surfaced.
In which he said that he has no friends in the industry, several prominent names in Bollywood came forward to support him.
Actor Sonu Sood was among the first to publicly appeal to help Rajpal Yadav, after which, more actors also got in touch.
Rajpal Yadav’s manager said that everyone has made promises, but such transactions do not happen overnight, the family has to be mentally strong while there are also many functions in the house after February, and everyone wants Rajpal bhai to be out before that. Hopefully, he will be released by tomorrow.
It is worth noting that during his career, he has shown his acting skills in numerous successful films including Bhool Bhaliyaan, Hungama, Dhol, Chaap Chaap Ke, Phir Heera Pheri, and Kal Ho Na Ho.
Cheque bounce case
Bollywood comedian Rajpal Yadav was sent to jail after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea seeking more time to pay the amount due, the actor has to pay around Rs 9 crore.
It may be recalled that in April 2018, Rajpal Yadav was sentenced to 6 months in prison and a hefty fine by an Indian court for taking a loan and not paying it on time, but his immediate bail was also granted.
However, in June 2024, the High Court had temporarily suspended his sentence, provided that he takes ‘serious and genuine steps’ to explore the possibility of an amicable settlement with the opposing party.
