Pakistani senior actress and director Sangeeta has shared a surprising story from her past. She said that Indian filmmaker Raj Kapoor once offered her a fake marriage with Rishi Kapoor so she could work in Indian films.
Sangeeta revealed this in a TV interview where she talked about her career personal life and film journey. She said that she made a film called Gharana which was not very successful but later the Indian movie Baghban had almost the same story. Her film was released five years earlier but Baghban became famous.
During the interview Sangeeta smiled and said that she never fell in love with any Pakistani hero because she was always busy with her work. However she liked Hollywood actor Omar Sharif who played a role in her favorite movie Doctor Zhivago.
Sangeeta also said that she received many film offers from India but always chose to work in her own country. Even Indian director Mahesh Bhatt invited her to direct a film in India but she refused.
She shared that once she went to the Tashkent Film Festival where Raj Kapoor was also present. He told her to come to India and promised to arrange everything for her. He even said that he would set up a fake marriage with Rishi Kapoor so she could work freely in India.
According to Sangeeta Raj Kapoor wanted to cast her as the heroine in his film Prem Rog but she turned down the offer. She said that she was young full of passion and wanted to achieve something in her own country. Going to India was never her dream.
