Actress Shraddha Kapoor’s brother and well-known actor Siddhant Kapoor has been summoned by the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in an alleged Rs 252 crore drug case.
The case is being linked to a drug syndicate said to be linked to Dawood Ibrahim’s network. The development has created a stir in the film industry and several prominent personalities are now under investigation.
According to government officials, Siddhant Kapoor was summoned for questioning on November 25, while his alleged links are being linked to drug parties that were allegedly organized for high-profile personalities. An arrested drug smuggler revealed during interrogation that he used to arrange such luxury parties that were also attended by several film personalities.
Siddhant Kapoor, who has acted in films like Shootout at Wadala and Agali, is now at the centre of a rapidly expanding investigation. The investigation began with a minor drug seizure in February 2024 but later revealed a larger criminal network.
According to the evidence uncovered during the investigation, the syndicate was allegedly run by a man named Salim Dola, who is said to be a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim. A major development in the case came when Mohammed Salim Mohammed Sohail Sheikh was arrested in Dubai. Sheikh is the 15th arrest in the case and is believed to be a key member of the drug distribution chain.
According to investigative sources, Sheikh told during interrogation that these parties were funded by drug money and their aim was to expand the drug network. He was also responsible for recruiting drug suppliers, purchasing drugs and direct supply to high-profile clients.
More Bollywood personalities are likely to come under the purview of the investigation. The Mumbai Crime Branch is now investigating the aspects of money laundering, financial transactions and network links in collaboration with the ED. According to officials, detailed statements of the individuals whose names have come to light will be recorded.
As the case progresses, more layers of the syndicate are expected to be revealed. Officials say the impact of the case could be far-reaching, including in Bollywood.
Siddhant Kapoor is currently under close surveillance while investigators are busy preparing for the next phase of questioning, which could potentially be the next major development in the Rs 252 crore case.
