Pakistan’s leading actress ushna Shah has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to stop the mistreatment of animals.
Ashna Shah shared the letter on her Instagram account. At the beginning of the letter, she praised the Chief Minister’s efforts in cleanliness, public safety and women’s safety, but at the same time highlighted an issue that is not getting the attention of the authorities, which is animal abuse.
Mentioning an incident in the letter, he said that recently I saw a video in which a dog was being tied to a car and dragged helplessly on the main road of Punjab. People were writing in the comments that Maryam Nawaz was killing animals. Whether it is right or wrong, this perception is being created because incidents of mistreatment of animals are constantly happening and there is no effective prevention against it.
Ashna pointed out other bad incidents happening with animals, including organized dog fights, violence against donkeys and torturing animals in markets.
He also suggested some important steps in the letter that can prevent such incidents, including implementation of animal cruelty laws, ban on keeping wild animals as pets and programs across the province.
The actress wrote at the end of the letter that if you show compassion for animals, according to the teachings of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him), then an example can be set not only for Punjab but also for the entire country, and it is possible that leaders of other provinces will also follow suit. You can also win our hearts.
