Vicky Kaushal’s father reveals having suicidal thoughts

Bollywood’s famous action director and Vicky Kaushal’s father, Sham Kaushal, recently opened up about the darkest time in his life. He shared that in 2003, after being diagnosed with cancer, he completely lost hope and started seriously thinking about ending his life.

While talking in a podcast with Amar Ujala, Sham Kaushal said that when he found out he had cancer, his world turned upside down. He admitted that he had decided to end his life and thought about jumping from the third floor of the hospital. But after surgery, he was in so much pain that he couldn’t even move. Because of this, he couldn’t go through with his plan.

Sham Kaushal said he first felt pain in his stomach while shooting the film Lakshya with Hrithik Roshan, but he ignored it. Later, during the shooting of Shyam Benegal’s film Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the pain became worse. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors convinced him to have surgery.

Recalling that time, he said he was informed in the evening that he had a serious disease and might not survive. That night, he thought if he had to die anyway, why not do it now. But due to weakness and pain, he couldn’t move.

He also shared that he prayed to God that night. He told God he didn’t want to live a life where he would become a burden on his family. He asked for just 10 more years, so he could see his children grow up.

Now it has been 22 years since that prayer. Sham Kaushal said that time changed his life. He met good people, got good work, his children became successful, and he moved forward in life.

It’s worth noting that Sham Kaushal has worked as an action director in some of Bollywood’s biggest and most successful films. His work includes Krish, Padmaavat, Gangs of Wasseypur, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, PK, Sanju, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Simmba.
