In Karachi’s City Court, the District and Sessions Judge East approved YouTuber Yasir Shami’s appeal against the rejection of his acquittal request in the case related to leaking immoral pictures and videos of well-known TV host Aamir Liaquat Hussain.
According to Dawn News, the court heard the appeal against the judicial magistrate’s decision to reject Yasir Shami’s acquittal request and accepted his plea.
Yasir Shami’s lawyer argued that there was no evidence against him, and even the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) report did not find any proof linking him to the case.
The lawyer informed the court that in a supplementary challan, the FIA declared that evidence against Yasir Shami was insufficient and submitted a report to remove his name from the case.
However, the judicial magistrate had rejected the FIA report and the acquittal request, which led to the appeal in the sessions court.
The complaint about Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s inappropriate pictures being leaked was filed by his daughter.
It is important to note that in June 2022, Aamir Liaquat Hussain was found unconscious at his home, taken to the hospital, and later declared dead.
Before his death, he was under severe mental stress. A few weeks earlier, inappropriate videos of him with his last wife, Dania Malik, had been leaked.
After the videos surfaced, Aamir Liaquat passed away. A few weeks later, in July 2022, his former wife Bushra Iqbal, along with their son and daughter, filed a complaint with the FIA in Karachi against Dania Malik.
Later, on October 10, 2022, the FIA registered a case against Dania Shah under sections 20, 21, and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 for allegedly leaking the videos.
In December 2022, the FIA arrested Dania Malik from Lodhran, Punjab, but she was later released on bail by a Karachi court.
