Britney Spears has gotten the jukebox musical treatment over the years and after the truly insane success of Mamma Mia. It’s no surprise that Broadway is trying to replicate the success.
It should not shock anyone that the discography of Britney Spears will be making that big appearance in a pristine melodic named Once Upon a One More Time.
The stage adaption was reported in mid-2019, be that as it may. The plans were required to be postponed when the world went into lockdown. As limitations ease, particularly Stateside, it would seem that the melodic is set to debut very soon.
Like most musicals, it will make its debut off-Broadway with Britney’s musical extravaganza kicking off in Washington DC in November. So what can we expect from this musical?
Not at all like the few narratives doing the rounds about Britney. Which she called out for raising the most awful occasions in her day to day existence. This melodic isn’t really found on the pop star.
According to the synopsis, the story follows some fairytale princesses. Who learn there is ‘more to life than bird-made dresses and true love’s kiss’ thanks to a ‘rogue fairy godmother’.
She shows up at the princesses’ fortnightly book club where she ‘drops The Feminine Mystique into their corseted laps’.
The musical features some of Britney’s biggest hits including Oops!… I Did It Again, Lucky, Stronger and, of course, Toxic. As the princesses finally get their own version of Happily Ever After.
The show is directed and choreographed by husband-and-wife team Keone and Mari Madrid. According to the announcement, it is still ‘Broadway-bound’ so that’s some good news for the musical.
However, there’s absolutely no estimation about it. When it will come overseas to the West End before we even think of it touring to our shores.
