Liverpool and Portugal footballer Diogo Jota dies in car accident

Famous Liverpool and Portugal forward footballer Diogo Jota has died in a car accident. He was also a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Portugal national team.

The accident happened on the A-52 motorway in Zamora, Spain, where he was traveling with his brother André Silva. Their car lost control due to a tire burst and caught fire. Sadly, both of them died on the spot.

Diogo Jota was 28 years old. He joined Liverpool from Wolves in July 2020 and won several titles with the club.

On June 22, 2025, he got married to his partner Rute Cardoso. The couple had three children together.

It is important to mention that in 2020, Jota left Wolves and joined Liverpool with a transfer deal worth 41 million pounds.
