Three years have passed since those who wished Qazi Wajid, the great and unprecedented small-screen artist to send a message of love to everyone, his services to TV and radio will always be remembered.
Born in Lahore on May 26, 1930, Qazi Wajid began his career as a child presidency on radio in 1956. His program ‘Qazi Ji’s Rule’ gained extraordinary popularity during that period.
He later became associated with the radio as a staff artist. Qazi Wajid performed in more than one hundred different plays and serials. ‘Basti of God’ was his first performance on television, which also became known as ‘Raja’.
His best plays include The Darkness, The Sunshine, The Kiran Story, The Winds, Eve’s Daughter and others. He also worked in freedom movement in the early days.
In recognition of his technical services, Qazi Wajid was conferred with the Government by the Pride of Performance in 1988, in addition to being given the 12th Government TV Award for Best Actor.
He also performed on stage plays in different cities abroad.
He passed away in Karachi on February 11, 2017 at the age of 87 due to a heart attack.
