Deepak Perwani and the brand he’s crafted needs no introduction. From winning big in the country and gaining international fame by being positioned at sixth place for being the world’s most innovative brand in the world by BFA (Bulgarian Fashion Awards), the designer is a high-achiever. Next up for the designer is Telenor Fashion Pakistan Week, 2015 (TFPW15), where he will be offering an interesting mix of designs. “We’re showcasing a women’s wear collection Spring/Summer at TFPW15. The new strategy for my brand will be that in we’ll exhibit women’s wear in the summer and menswear in the winter time,” he says, adding, “We might just show an amalgamation of women’s and men’s wear collections so nothing has been decided for sure yet.”

Talking about the Deepak Perwani e-store — his latest enterprise, the designer says, “Our e-store is doing very well. We’ve got a new outreach, since people from all over the world can make purchases and the brand now isn’t just restricted to Pakistan, India and the Dubai market.”

alking about the progress of fashion in Pakistan over the years, he asserts, “Fashion has progressed tremendously in Pakistan.” Listing milestones in the Pakistani fashion front, he says, “The fact that fashion is now regulated by Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter with professional fashion weeks in place, professional management and lawns and midsummer collections coming out yearly and the fact that we now launch Valentine’s day, New Year and Eid collections shows a huge regulation and movement in Pakistani fashion.”

As to where Pakistani fashion is headed towards at a global level, he says, “I think there’s a huge curiosity about the Pakistani fashion at a global echelon.” The designer recalls the trends in the Paris and London fashion week last year. “We saw the amalgamation of the shalwar kameez and the kurta dress — obviously inspired by Pakistan and not India, as India has already been a part of the International market for a very long time. Pakistani fashion has a very bright future.”
