A label boss responsible for discovering Taylor Swift has been recruited as a mentor on the upcoming season of American Idol.
Scott Borchetta president and CEO of the Big Machine Label Group will be joining the U.S. talent show to help guide the aspiring singers during the competition. Borchetta replaces veteran judge/mentor Randy Jackson who announced his departure from the show after 13 seasons with the program last month.
The music executive is credited for discovering Swift when she was 14 years old and signed her to his independent label.
Big Machine is now home to some of country music’s biggest stars including Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire and Florida Georgia Line. Borchetta will join returning judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. when the 15th season kicks off in January 2015.
