The making of the world of ‘Bombay Velvet’
Filmmakers of the highly anticipated Bombay Velvet recently released the making of the film and it was incredible to watch. The video shows the crew create a whole world out of nothing and give it the glamour of the 60s.
Anurag Kashyap was serious when he said Bombay Velvet is his dream project. The making is no joke. It’s confusing and slow in the beginning, comparing kitchen utensils to a real life set, but then it progresses and gives an astounding insight into the making of the entire set from scratch.
From cars, to costumes, to the Bollywood hotties being cast in the film – Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma – the three-minute Bombay Velvet making takes the viewer through a journey which encapsulates everything that went into the production of this film.
While the multitude of costumes and expenditure might make someone fall off their chair, they will not go to waste. The filmmakers have decided to auction off some of Ranbir and Anushka’s costumes and donate the proceeds to charity.
Each costume has been designed with a great deal of detail and effort to represent the fashion of the 60s. Numerous tailors were hired to stitch the outfits. In fact, besides the lead actors and supporting cast, even the junior artistes wore elaborate costumes in the film.
Bombay Velvet also stars Karan Johar, Kay Kay Menon, Manish Choudhary and it is slated to release on May 15, 2015.
