Akshay Khanna has become the second actor after Shah Rukh Khan to achieve a staggering feat in terms of earnings in Indian cinema.

After spending more than three decades in the Indian film industry, 2025 proved to be a historic year for Akshay Khanna and he gave back-to-back hits, setting a record that was previously held only by Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan.

Akshay Khanna delivered different performances in two films this year and both these films became the highest-grossing Indian films of 2025.

The 55-year-old actor achieved a staggering commercial milestone and his two films earned as much as only Shah Rukh’s films had done before.

Akshay Khanna has become only the second Indian actor after Bollywood King Shah Rukh to cross the Rs 2000 crore mark at the global box office in a single calendar year, which is a testament to his performance.

His January 2025 release, Chhawa, grossed Rs 809 crore worldwide and remained the highest-grossing Indian film of the year for several months.

However, December proved to be even bigger for Akshay Khanna, with his role as gangster Rehman Dakit in Aditya Dhar’s thriller Dharandhar catapulting him to the heights of fame overnight.

The film also stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, but Akshay Khanna stands out among them all.

It has become the most successful Hindi release in India’s domestic circuit so far and the film has grossed Rs 1167 crore worldwide so far and this total is increasing.

With Chhawa and Dharandhar collectively earning over Rs 2001 crore, Akshay has now joined the elite club previously held by only Shah Rukh Khan.
