Hollywood actor and rapper Will Smith has been embroiled in a new legal dispute, where he has been accused of sexual harassment by a male colleague.

A violinist on Will Smith’s 2025 music tour has filed a lawsuit against him, accusing him of sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation. The lawsuit was filed in the California Superior Court, Los Angeles.

According to plaintiff Brian King Joseph, he was hired as a violinist for a show in San Diego in November 2024, after which Will Smith offered to include him on his 2025 tour and upcoming album, Based on a True Story.

The lawsuit alleges that Smith allegedly adopted a “predatory behavior” and gradually mentally groomed him for sexual abuse. Joseph says Smith once told him, “Our relationship is special; I don’t have that relationship with anyone else.”

The lawsuit centers on an incident that occurred in Las Vegas in March 2025, where Will Smith was performing. According to Joseph, her hotel room key bag was allegedly lost by Smith’s management, and she later realized that someone had entered her room. According to her, a handwritten note was found in the room that read “Brian, I’ll be back… just us” and was in the shape of a heart. The letter caused her to be extremely frightened.

The plaintiff says that other items found in the room included wipes, a beer bottle, a red bag, HIV medication in someone else’s name, earrings, and hospital discharge papers. These circumstances led her to fear that an unknown person might return and attempt to forcefully perform sexual acts on her.

Joseph said he reported the incident to hotel security, Will Smith’s representatives, and the police’s non-emergency line, but a few days later, a member of Smith’s management team shamed him and fired him, saying he had made it all up. He claims he suffered from PTSD and other mental health issues after being fired.

On the other hand, Will Smith’s lawyer, Alan B. Gradsky, has strongly rejected all the allegations, saying that these claims are baseless, false and irresponsible, and his client will take every legal route to ensure that the truth comes out.

It should be noted that Will Smith released his latest album Based on a True Story in March. He performed at the House of Blues in Las Vegas on March 20, 2025, while his tour officially started in Rabat, Morocco in June. This matter has become the center of attention in showbiz circles after it came to light.
