Zayn Malik launches Urdu-inspired fashion clothing line
Former One-Direction member Zayn Malik has released his new clothing line which is said to be based on his solo debut album ‘Mind of Mine.’
However, what has caught our attention is the use of Urdu on the clothing line. Zayn who was born in Britain and is of Pakistan origin has previously released a song in Urdu as well.
The collection which is available on zaynmalikstore.com has a wide display including pullovers, tee-shirts printed with his face, and military jackets. Zayn spoke about his foray into fashion and why he joined the liked of Kanye West and Justin Bieber who also known for their fashion collections.
In an interview with Vogue magazine, the 23-year-old singer said “Everything was created with the idea that this is something I would want to wear.”
“I wanted to approach this as an opportunity to extend my ideas as an artist, and to give fans another facet of who I am,” he said.
About the Urdu script scrawled on his collection, Zayn said “My family is from Pakistan, so having artwork in Urdu has huge significance to me,”
The shirts read “Zayn” and “Zahyn” (Mind) in Urdu. This also explains which his now ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid was also spotted wearing recently.
The highly graphic pieces are supposed to take inspiration from metal band between the mid 1970-80 which is getting popular with fans recently.
“The art we created gives a nod to the vintage rock-band T-shirts but with my own concept.”
