Atiqa Odho faces criticism over her statement about artists in a wartime environment
Actress Atiqa Odho is facing strong criticism on social media for her recent comments about artists during a time of war. Atiqa Odho is a senior Pakistani actress who has performed in many popular dramas. She also appears as a host on a private TV show where she often shares her views on social and political topics.
Recently, while speaking in a program, she talked about the role of artists during war-like situations. She said that unfortunately, poets, actors, singers, musicians, and writers are dragged into such matters. She requested that this should not happen.
She explained that the job of artists is to promote love and culture, to bring people together, not to spread hate. She said we do not expect such things from doctors or lawyers, so why put this burden on artists. She urged artists to spread love, not hate.
Her statement received a lot of criticism from the public, especially at a time when Indian forces had attacked Pakistani civilian areas, causing the death of several civilians and soldiers.
People on social media said that during the war, our soldiers were being martyred and Indian actors were speaking against Pakistan. In such a situation, talking about peace and brotherhood is unrealistic.
Another person commented that Indian actors speak very harshly against Pakistan, and yet Atiqa is talking about love with them. Doctors and lawyers do not protect borders, but if an artist speaks against the country’s dignity, they should expect a reaction.
Someone else said that talking about love with those who attacked our country and killed our children is shameful.
