Chahat says the fame Badu Badi got was not even achieved by Noor Jehan and Mumtaz
Famous comedian and singer Chahat Fateh Ali Khan said in a recent interview that his song Badu Badi gave him great fame. He said that even though Noor Jehan and Mumtaz Begum sang a similar original song, they did not get the same level of fame.
Chahat’s song was released in June 2024. It is inspired by the famous song Akh Lari Badu Badi from the 1973 Pakistani film Banarsi Thug. That song was sung by Noor Jehan and featured Mumtaz Begum in the film.
Chahat said the tune and lyrics of his song are somewhat different, and this difference makes his version unique. He also said that great artists like Noor Jehan and Mumtaz Begum did not get special fame from that song, but he became popular nationwide because of it.
Chahat complained that many Pakistani musicians do not recognize him as a singer. However, he is about to complete a list of 100 songs, after which he believes he will deserve to be called a proper singer.
He added that some artists even refuse to attend events where he is performing, but he did not name anyone.
Chahat said that despite criticism, he has managed to win people’s hearts with his style and creativity. He said this is his biggest success.
