Date set to indict actor Sajid Hasan’s son, Sahir Hasan
Judicial Magistrate South has set April 30 as the date to indict Sahir Hasan, son of well-known actor Sajid Hasan, in a drug possession case.
The hearing took place at the Judicial Complex in Karachi Central Jail before Magistrate Shehzad Khawaja. Jail authorities presented the accused, Sahir Hasan, in court. Police also submitted the charge sheet. The court provided copies of the case to the accused and set April 30 for indictment.
Sahir Hasan is currently in jail on judicial remand. He is accused of possessing more than 500 grams of weed (ganja).
Meanwhile, a larger bench of the Sindh High Court resolved the dispute over hearing Sahir Hasan’s petition and forwarded the matter to the constitutional bench.
The larger bench heard the issue of who should handle Sahir Hasan’s petition in the drug case. The bench ruled that the constitutional bench has the authority to hear the case.
The court said Sahir’s bail petition should be heard by the constitutional bench on April 24. His petition falls under Article 199, subsection 1(c) of the Constitution, which allows the constitutional bench to hear matters related to fundamental rights.
