Faysal Quraishi’s statement about four marriages are not a permission its limit
Pakistani showbiz actor and host Faysal Quraishi said that Islam allowed four marriages due to a specific historical background, and it was not meant as general encouragement.
Faysal Quraishi recently appeared in a podcast where he openly talked about his life, career, and social issues.
In response to a question, he clearly stated his opinion about the topic of four marriages. He said that Islam does not give permission for four marriages but sets a limit of four, and there is a big difference between these two ideas.
The actor said that in today’s time, even running one household is difficult, so it is better to have only one marriage. He also explained that in the past, in Arab society, having many marriages was common, and people could not fulfill the requirements of justice. That is why Islam set a limit of four, so that fairness between wives could be ensured.
He said that if a man cannot provide justice, education, and a good environment for his own children, then how can he be fair between multiple wives.
Faysal ended the discussion by saying that he is not a religious scholar and scholars can give better guidance on this topic. But in his opinion, the real message of Islam is that marriage is limited to four only with the condition of justice, and it is better to have just one marriage.
