Modi government arrests Sikh YouTuber on charges of spying for Pakistan
According to the report, Indian Sikhs are once again being targeted by the Modi government, and their problems are increasing. Indian police have arrested a well-known YouTuber from the Sikh community, Jasbir Singh, accusing him of spying for Pakistan.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav claimed that Jasbir Singh was linked to a Pakistani network. He said Jasbir was in contact with Jyoti Malhotra and Shakir, also known as Jatt Nandwa.
Indian media, often called Godi media, also started spreading propaganda against Pakistan and the Sikh community. They claimed that Jasbir Singh visited Pakistan in 2020, 2021, and 2024, and phone numbers related to Pakistan were found on his mobile.
The media also accused Jasbir Singh, the creator of the YouTube channel Jan Mahal, of being part of a secret network and said he had links with Ehsaan Ur Raheem, also known as Danish.
It is important to note that the Modi government is once again trying to link the expression of Sikh identity on social media with spying. The Indian government has started keeping Sikh YouTubers and social media activists under watch.
Not only that, but social media accounts are being blocked and posts are being deleted just for expressing Sikh identity. Supporters of Sikhs for Justice are being charged under strict laws like UAPA. Even saying the word Khalistan is leading to charges of treason, and ordinary Sikh citizens in Indian Punjab are being added to intelligence watchlists.
