Bollywood superstar and businessman Shah Rukh Khan is facing strong criticism for selecting Pakistani players during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 draft. His team, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), has signed two Pakistani players — Mohammad Amir and Usman Tariq. This decision has upset some extremist groups in India.
Due to the tense relationship between Pakistan and India, Shah Rukh Khan’s decision has not been well received by certain hardline groups. According to Indian media, this may lead to a strong reaction from extremist elements, similar to what has happened in the past.
So far, Shah Rukh Khan has not released any official statement about this issue.
Two Pakistani Stars Join Trinbago Knight Riders
In total, five Pakistani players were selected in the CPL 2025 draft. Out of these, two were picked by Shah Rukh Khan’s team.
This news made Pakistani fans very happy, as they will get a chance to see their favorite cricketers playing in an international league again.
According to media reports, the two Pakistani players joining Trinbago Knight Riders are Mohammad Amir and Usman Tariq.
Mohammad Amir
Mohammad Amir is a right-hand fast bowler known for his swing and speed. He has a strong record in T20 cricket, especially in the CPL.
In four CPL seasons, Amir has played 39 matches and taken 51 wickets with an impressive average of 18.09. His addition to TKR will surely make the bowling attack stronger.
Usman Tariq
Off-spinner Usman Tariq will be making his CPL debut this year with Trinbago Knight Riders.
Recently, he played for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 and performed really well. He took 10 wickets in just 5 matches.
His spin bowling could be very useful for the team in the middle overs of the game.
Pakistani Players Banned from IPL
While talented players like Mohammad Amir and Usman Tariq are shining in leagues like CPL, it’s important to note that all Pakistani cricketers, including Amir, are banned from playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
This ban has been in place for many years due to the political tensions between Pakistan and India.

Shah Rukh Khan is not only the owner of Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL, but also owns the famous IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders and the Major League Cricket team Los Angeles Knight Riders in the USA.

The Caribbean Premier League is a yearly T20 cricket tournament held in the West Indies. It started in 2013 as a replacement for the Caribbean T20, and is now the top T20 competition in the region.
